I tried to force myself to read this book slower, but I still devoured it. I love this series so much!
This book follows Campbell, the eldest MacPherson brother and Clarissa, a close friend of Kate. Clarissa, a 28-year-old wallflower feels England with her grandmother and seeks refuge in Scotland at Kate's and Broderick's house (couple from the previous book). She needs protection from a psychopathic stalker who is getting more violent in his efforts to "prove" his love for Clarissa. After realizing they aren't safe in Scotland either, they ask Campbell to keep Clarissa safe. I agree, who's better for the job, than a grumpy giant Scotsman?
I love a brooding hero who could tear the world apart, if anyone touches what's his, but he also turns butter in the hand of his love. Campbell was perfection. Broderick is still my absolute favorite (I have a soft spot for "beastly" heroes), but Campbell is on the very top too. He's everything I want in a hero.
Clarissa is a fun heroine! She's brave, caring and has a tender heart. Her nervous trait is, that she blabbers and spits out innuendos. Which is something I also do, so I felt seen 🙃 She was a badass at the final showdown. I was super proud of her.
Their chemistry is off the charts and the sexy parts left me fanning myself.
I felt the supernatural elements were stronger in this book, which I loved. I actually had goosebumps a couple of times.
Now, the sad part...Dash..that broke my heart. But it also helped me to hate Northfield with a burning passion.
I really appreciated Fergus and Butter. My soul needed them.
Things I loved:
- a giant hero who tears apart anything and everything that threatens what's dear to him
- everyone knows I love you, except you
- Clarissa's tender heart
- the supernatural elements (Mrs. MacBean is at it again)
- Clarissa's blabbering and innuendos
- the stalker trope
...yeah I loved everything :D I can't wait to read Alexander's story, but I have a feeling, he will break my heart.
Elisa Braden was a new to me author in 2021, but she quickly became one of my favorites and I also joined her advance team of FB. I can't wait to go back and read her other works too.
