Fun, Family-Friendly Brain Teasers for People Who Love Logic & Reasoning

Each entertaining brain teaser comes with a hint (on the following page) to help you come up with the answer. The answers are on the pages after the hints. I like that many questions are about real-life situations that happened in different countries across the world. Some feature how new inventions came about. Covering a variety of interesting topics, with some brain teasers being easier to solve than others, there are sure to be questions for everyone.

Didn’t Live Up to Promise

This publisher proclaims this is a different kind of “brain teaser” book. Not a trivia or mini-story book, but rather a book to help hone your thinking skills to see “outside of the box.”

Unfortunately, the book wasn’t as promised. Even with “guided problem-solving” (as stated in the subtitle) in the form of hints, many of these so-called brain teasers went sideways fast. The exercises did not live up to the claim that no prior knowledge of the “brain teasers” was needed to figure out the right answers. The “answers” were sometimes obvious, but the hints were not always helpful… and some answers were so “outside of the box” to be barely in the same universe! If you are looking for a true brain teaser book, this is not one. It does have some fun facts, and interesting backgrounds/stories.

All in all, I was disappointed by this “brain teaser” book.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did n to affect my review.

This book wasn't what I thought it was going to be, but it turned out to be so much better. I homeschool my second-grade grandson and I'm always looking for things to help expand his mind. What I found most excellent concerning this book was the hint it provided for each question. I was able to ask the question in a verbatim manner, if I thought it was understandable by him. But if it wasn't, I could paraphrase it in a way he could understand and start our discussion. The hint was a great way to continue the discussion, and frankly game me an idea how to continue. Especially since I didn't know the answer to many of the questions.

Since starting the book, he's started asking my family for questions that he could ask to try and stump me. When he does, we find the answer together which has opened up another aspect of his education: How to properly use a search engine and understanding how they work.

Great book for homeschooling all ages of students.

Right off the bat, it has to be noted that this is not typical brain-teasers in the traditional sense of the word, but really interesting trivia that is presented in a jeopardy type question format if you will.

It is most certainly real (factual) world (from all over) information, presented in a very informative way, covering a myriad of wide-ranging topics. It is not for the young ones on a long road trip, but will definitely mind tease your mind, in that it will challenge your thinking.

I love the way it was written and broken down, so that there was actually an answer just a flip of the page away, with really well-articulated answers and explanations. If you’re not careful, you will move from one question to the next and forget the reality you left behind. (Now to warm my cold food up again). I wonder what will be in the next edition….

I like this book for its simplicity in reading and organizational structure. Regardless of format, hard copy or electronic format you have an option to think and guess yourself before getting a hint or actual answer. You don't have to switch to the end of the book or some bookmark, they are all in sequential pages. I also like that the questions are classified in categories and are organized in the order of ascending complexity. The other point that i would like to stress out is the reality of the cases. They all have been taken from the real world and you can always dig deeper on the web if you are interested in.

I've always loved puzzles so this book was right up my alley. The topics are diverse and range from business, gambling and obscure subjects like launching ships. This is an excellent resource to brush up on your trivia for game nights or pub crawls. The format of the book is simple. A question is introduced, a hint is given before the complete answer is revealed. The illustrations are good, but they are small on the phone. If you want a book that will make you think, then look no further. This one has plenty of strange facts that will boggle your mind.

This is an excelent, well-written and well-researhed book that can keep you entertained. I have to admit that some of the brain teasers were at a very high level and I had to stop to think through the explanation.
This is the sort of book that you can lose yourself in and churn through the time when you are in need of a distraction or diversion, particlarly if you find yourslef in a covid lockdown situation or if you happen to be self-isolating.
