This boxed set caused me to fall behind on my work. It was that good of a read. How can you do mundane work when you are busy thinking of Odin Longknife.

Gets tiresome. 4 at the begining, 2 by the end.

The good: nice world building. Interesting characters. Compelling backstory.

The bad: Having read 4 of Forbes' series, there is a pattern: he strings them out for too long. He will take a 3 book plot and stretch it to 4. So the story starts dragging and feeling repetitive by the third book, and the fourth book i end up skimming. So glad I have kindle unlimited and didn't buy them individually.

Conclusion: I would have given the series 4 stars if he put it into 3 books instead of four.

The characters are likable - if not terribly deep - the world-building is fantastic, and the plot is like an onion - there's always another layer (thanks Donkey!)

This is for you if you're looking for light, easy-reading sci-fi.
