I loved everything about each of the characters ( I know others will hate the “weak” female) but I think it’s funny as heck. I like yelling at the characters (in my head of course) and take my mind of things and get lost in their world. I’ve never read any of Sedona’s books before but man I’m hooked!

3.0 out of 5 starsDie To Live Another Day
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 25, 2022
Amaryllis always thought that she was cursed because she always found herself dying unspeakable and oftentimes hilarious deaths only to regenerate and be reborn.

Mace, Dagger, Knox, Jett and Anzac are 5 Jaugar shifters who are on a mission to locate a rare Phoenix Shifter. After a plane crashed that resulted in the deaths of everyone aboard with the exception of Amaryllis and her Fated Mates the ragtag team decided to trek through the Amazon in hopes of being rescued.

The guys knew that Amaryllis was their Fated Mate but due to a vow they made when they were younger to never accept a mate they decided the best course of action was to treat her like crap preventing their Matebond from forming.

It broke my heart the way the guys treated Amaryllis. She literally saved all 5 of them from the plane crash only for them to not have any care or concern for her. They were literally willing to leave her behind and only allowed her to tag along if she could keep up. She was hungry, dehydrated, bruised and bloody and still was able to push through the pain with her magic she named "Imp" keeping her safe along the way.

Death after death the guys soon realized she was the rare Phoenix Shifter they were looking for. Amaryllis was so heartbroken and devastated that she was ready to just give up. Slowly but surely a few of her Mates apologized and regretted the way they treated her and although she wanted to be with them so much damage had already been done.

Amaryllis and "Imp" were HILARIOUS. Imp was very mischievous and got a kick out of marking a couple of her mates. This book end on a Cliffhanger.

"Klutz" is full of Humor, Adventure, Angst, Forgiveness, Redemption. I'm looking forward to see what kind of Shenanigans Amaryllis and Imp find themselves in next.

This is an interesting 1st book in a series.
Ryls is a phoenix who regenerates whenever she dies.
After a plane crash she finds herself with 5 shifters who happen to be her mates.
The situations are hilarious, with LOL moments and her inner monologues are actually funny and not exhausting as in some books.

I have to admit I doubt this series will “hold me” throughout the 5 books but at least for a first book, it makes me want to read the second.

4.0 out of 5 stars Struggling to decide how I feel about this book

I am torn. On one hand, I have quite a few problems with the story. On the other hand, it was interesting enough for me to start and finish pretty quickly, which doesn’t happen very often. Because of that, I decided to give it a four star rating instead of three, which is what I usually do with books I am conflicted about.

What I liked: Interesting story, some mystery, her unfortunate but somewhat entertaining tendency to die in every way possible. The heroine herself is overall an interesting and entertaining character. I liked that she wasn’t some snarky badass with a chip on her shoulder the size of Mount Everest. That kind of character is a dime a dozen recently.

What I didn’t like: The guys were lackluster. They really needed some better character development. They came off as poorly written mean girls at times and their behavior was downright baffling. Beyond that, their excuses were hollow at best. Really, who says she could decide the fate of the world, then do everything in their power to make her hate them? Talk about free advertising for the other team. It was hinted near the end that there is more to their decisions and behavior, but even if that is true, a lot of what they did may make at least some of them not recoverable in my eyes. What if she had been a normal human? They literally left her die, and then basically tortured her when she caught up with them. Who does that? I am not sure there is a motive in this world that can make their behavior ok at this point.

I will probably read the next book to see where this is going, but I am not sure at this point that I will finish the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rides the edge of too much.

There was a lot of action in this book, but not a lot of character development. It read like a serial installment as opposed to a whole book and so it gets 3.5 stars. I liked it, though it definitely rides the razor edge of ridiculous. The FMC is plucky, but too forgiving. One “oops, I’m sorry” and all the sh!tt¥ things the guys said and did are forgotten. I wanted her to make those guys suffer. And if she doesn’t, I’m going to be pi$$ed. They made HER suffer and die. Then sad eyes and it’s ok? Yeah, self respect is a thing. And the guys are tough to like. They didn’t move entirely over into irredeemable and therefore not worth further reading, but it’s close. A few of the guys made attempts at redemption, but honestly, it felt like forgiveness driven solely by libido. Why do I say that? Because even the forgiven guys were still planning to leave, so…. I’m talking myself into liking this book less right now. It’s a fun concept and I’m hoping the constant dying begins to end. As a shtick it’s funny, but as a series gag it’s taking up too much time that should be devoted to character arcs. Like… there were at least 2 deaths that lent nothing to the story. The sex… also lent nothing to the story. It read like a bone throne to the audience that expects that sh!t. Still, there’s a spark and I’m going to read the next book and see if what I like stays and what I didn’t like is improved.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, could used some editing. Possible spoilers in last paragraph.

This book started out so good and interesting, but it just didn't keep the momentum. There was to much inner dialog, it dragged the story a lot and made me want to skip paragraphs to get to more interesting parts.

And the multiple povs? I usually love them, but this author did a poor job of them. I believe it was meant to make sure all aspects of the story were covered, but instead, we mostly got events that we had just read from one pov in someone elses pov, sometimes with added background information and sometimes not. And then, only after rehashing the event, did the story progress more and usually not by much before it switched to another pov and another event recap. This actually confused me more while reading. Half of what was explained in the males pov was never properly explained to Ryls, yet she was written as if conversations happened that never did, just what we the reader obtained from the males pov.

This book also needs an editor, badly. It's not so much grammar that needs attention, but rather the lack of words. There were so many sentences that were missing words, far to many for me to have counted. I kept losing concentration from the story to figure out what missing word fit into the sentence. Honestly, the majority of them would have been caught just by using Microsoft Words Read Aloud feature.

As for the story itself, I was hooked despite my above comments. I really love that Ryls is unaware of the supernatural world around her, yet embraces what she is to save the men (more accurately, she embraces what she knows about herself, which is not much starting out.) That she has a back bone and does her best to deal with the crappy hand thrown at her, and the fact that the 5 men she saves from death would prefer her to die off in the Amazon. Her regeneration process is unique to other phoenix shifter stories I've read, I love that she only take minutes to regen and that she has no memory problems from them. I don't even mind the men being bullies and a-holes, in romances like these there's either a reason for it, or (hopefully) a good grovel and make up for it. I'm not thrilled with the ending, just because it's so over played, but I'm excited for the next book in this series. Hopefully, the issues in this book won't be in the next though.

Wow! This is my first of Sedona Ashe's books & I will need to check out more. I absolutely feel in love with Ryls, that girls is so entertaining & Bridge Bordeaux does an amazing job bringing her character to life in the audiobook. I laughed so many times because of her quirky personality. I do have a soft spot for a female lead who is unafraid to just be her unusual self.

Now the guys in this clearly have something else going on, this is a bully romance, but the bullying takes a different turn then what you usually see in books. Their bullying is more along the lines of trying to create distance & I really want to know why that is. That cliffy at the end left me needing the next book. Also, I need to figure out what other books that Jake Bordeaux narrates with a Scottish brogue, that man is talented.

Overall I really enjoyed this book & I cannot wait to see what else happens in this series. The audiobook narration is so well done. Definitely a book to check out!

5.0 out of 5 stars we’re there problems with the book? some. did I love it anyway? heck yes!

So, so funny!! I love Ryls, all of her accident prone stuff was hilarious along with her commentary.

Amaryllis has a tendency of dying in the most random ways and yet she regenerates naked moments afterwards. She doesn’t know why but she does know that it has caused her many problems in her liege. She is in a plane crash and she saves 5 men from the plane crash. Something is different about these men and she might find something out about herself.

There are some plot problems, there are some continuity problems and some grammatical errors but I freaking enjoyed this book so much that I still rated it 5 stars. I was crying from laughter at one point. Did it go overboard a few times, a little bit that went with the tone of the book. On to book 2!
