Well developed characters I read the 2 nd book in the series and plan on going back to read the 1st one now. Can be read as a stand alone novel or in the series form. Can't wait for the next book to come out in September 2022
I love all of Christine Pope’s work. I have read almost every series and I can’t wait for the next book to come out In this one! It was suspenseful, creative, and detailed. You can tell she pours her heart into every book she writes! I will always be a fan

Another great read by Pope, I did receive an ARC but this doesn't affect my thoughts or opinions. I really liked this book, it's the second book in the series and what an adventure. I wasn't sure what to expect with this one, but I was not disappointed with this one.
I liked that we got more of Penny and Isaac trying to figure out their relationship, while people from Penny's past just keep showing up. Dave, not someone that I enjoyed, especially when we learn more of his past with Penny. This was a quick read that just kept me entertained from start to finish. I liked the character development with the main characters. I'm excited to read the next one.
This is Book 2 and it would be helpful to start with Book 1 even though this is pretty much a standalone book. The story is told in first person by Penny Briggs, who just recently (in Book 1) discovered she is a witch. This story takes place two weeks after Isaac Zamora helped Penny banish a demon in “Found Objects”, as her “lodestone” witch power leads her to a compass. Isaac has no idea what the compass does and advises Penny to figure it out on her own. Then David, Penny’s ex-husband shows up, saying they are not divorced because he forgot to file the papers. The mystery begins when Penny returns from an excursion following the compass and retrieving a key to find David dead on her living room floor. Penny and Isaac’s relationship deepens, though they are still moving very slowly, just a strong mutual attraction, warm kisses, and hugs. The compass leads Penny to a key, then to a sword and a note. The mystery deepens. What’s going on? Why, and who (or what!) is trying to kill Penny? We find out in the final chapters as Penny fights for her life in an exciting confrontation.
It appears that Penny Brigg’s lodestone witchy abilities are not giving up. She finds a compass that leads her to a booming adventure that was totally unexpected. With Isaac Zamora, her handsome and powerful male witch friend who is helping her sort out her new found magic, Penny takes on a little more than what she was considering to do. Of course, you throw in an Ex into the mix who shows up to aggravate the situation just makes it too much of an ordeal. Finders, Keepers (Unexpected Magic Book 2, the second book in this series is just loaded with surprises and adventures to say the least. I recommend it highly and suggest reading book 1 to make sure you receive an understanding from the beginning.
Cliffhanger alert!!! This is the second installment in the Unexpected Magic series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The romance between Penny and Isaac is progressing in a nice fashion and I am enjoying their journey. Penny continues to deal with relocation and relationship challenges as well as her newly found witch talents. All are very entertaining for this reader. The ending was rather abrupt but now I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment Lost and Found releasing in September 2022.
