Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I ran a successful IndieGoGo campaign when I first decided to go indie twelve years ago, but despite the fact it worked out, I never went back to the crowdfunding model, too wrapped up in other methods of marketing in the Wild West of what was self-pub years ago.
Recently, however, I've been excited by the idea of relaunching and rebranding some of my older works. Kickstarter seemed an excellent platform to do that--but how? It felt like a gigantic and daunting process to take on and I honestly had no idea what I was doing the first time around. Things had changed a great deal!
Finding this book--and Russell and Monica--changed everything for me. Not only does this book break down everything I needed in a step-by-step process that took all the anxiety away, I learned so much I can also add to my other marketing efforts. I'm right now in preorder for my first campaign and I know it won't be my last. I highly recommend this book (and their course) if you're looking for a new way to share your work with readers.
Fantastic book. I took copious note, but I'll still need to go back through and review sections as I set up my first Kickstarter. It has so much details and insights into how to make a successful campaign.
Loved the book and I've referred to it COUNTLESS TIMES while planning and launching my first kickstarter--which BTW funded on day one because I followed a lot of the advice in this book.
The authors share tips like when to launch, how to generate buzz before and during the campaign, how to make a good product video, and they share their mistakes so you can do your best to avoid making them yourself. I especially appreciated them sharing their experience dealing with trolls and getting complaints from "over-marketing". It gave me the courage to market without worrying about haters.
Also, this book will help you get books funded, as well as any other product! I'm an indie author, but I did my kickstarter for a deck of cards based on a book I wrote. All the advice was relevant to my kickstarter campaign.
We're some of the authors that have already used this book to run a Kickstarter, and having this as a reference during our very first campaign was amazing. We used the advice, examples, and insight provided in the book, including setting our initial funding goal at $500, to make our campaign super successful. We funded within hours of launching, got a "Project We Love" tag on the first day, and were featured on the front page of Kickstarter before the end of our campaign. We've also made money after the campaign ended by following the advice in the book about addons and fulfillment. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to start exploring Kickstarter, or make their campaigns more successful.
I've been looking at how to launch a project (of one kind or another) for years and for some reason it never clicked. The pre-planning in particular went over my head. This book brought it all home for me and I'm confident that I'll be able to bring my A-game to my KS debut. 🥰
I highly recommend this book to any author looking to expand their platform and reach. Kickstarter is an incredible tool and platform for publishing and distributing books, book boxes and swag, as evidenced by the fact that the largest Kickstarter in history was recently for books by Brandon Sanderson. Every author should have this book in their tool belt.
I bought this book after hearing how passionate Russell and Monica are about Kickstarter. They provide a lot of guidance that will make you excited and ready to launch your campaign. I've seen a number of people implement the information this book provides to great success.
This is the most thorough, authoritative guide to Kickstarter for writers ever written. Russell Nohelty speaks from hard-won experience. If you do even half of the things in this guide your Kickstarter will be a rousing success.
