How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Second-chance, return to hometown, friends to lovers.

It’s been 17yrs since Quinn has returned to her hometown, brought back due to her occupation: realtor. Unresolved family issues and seeing her best friend again leave her anxious. Sawyer, antiques dealer and tinkerer of old gaming machines is unsettled at the idea of seeing the one who got away. Both women are head-strong and reserved about being vulnerable in fear of feeling the sense of loss again.

Chemistry and flirty banter is the main driver behind my ratings. This book has it. All the swooning and angst is there to get completely enamored with these characters and the story.

Monica McCallan is excellent at writing two lovable MCs- idiots in love is how she lovingly puts it. Another highlight to her writing strength I’d like to mention is the secondary characters. Similar to the MCs, they’re multidimensional but don’t take away from the story, and they’re not just there as a token/prop. I’m currently on a McCallan binge and this tracks with everything I’ve read so far.

If your looking for something to help you believe in love again, laugh, cry, look no further.

A well written story that unites two former friends after a long absence. In fact, 17 years is a heck of a time to rekindle something that wasn't really there in the first place. While a clever construction linking a city professional with an introverted small town woman, the dating procedure was tortuously extrapolated. The on/off relationship with issues of trust was frustrating with no clear objective for either women for many chapters. It also turned out that idiot brother was just a device who disappeared in the final chapters.

Family is hard. Like really hard sometimes. Both MCs had to work through their own issues before they were finally able to give themselves to each other, and personally I though it was beautiful and just.. real. Anyway, I loved it!

Monica McCallan is truly a wordsmith, and master storyteller!!!
I loved this book and this storyline. The characters who just fulfill each other when together, and a love that has survived years of stagnation. It’s magical to have that with someone, they just click and make you feel complete. I also very much loved that Lily and Bennet made an appearance Then and Now was my fist WLW book and it hooked me right from the go. Fun to see them appear! I’ll be patiently waiting for the next release from Ms McCallan!!

A lovely second chance, first love, story that doesn’t disappoint. It never goes off the script too far, but this is the first book in a while that kept my attention to read in one sitting, eager to see how it would end. Funny without too much annoying banter or too many forced attempts at being witty. Plenty of chemistry and enough of a storyline I was pleasantly surprised by how much complexity the author weaves into this seemingly simple story. I have enjoyed several of this authors books, but admittedly found a few books which seemed to lack substance. This book was a pleasant, fun and captivating read.

The characters were rich and fully lovable and the author's writing was terrific in depicting how head-strong, yet vulnerable, each of the MCs were. Except for the brother, all the secondary characters were likeable as well.

I really enjoyed how Monica unfolded this story, layer by layer, to mend the family ties and to rekindle the friendship and romance. It was so well-crafted that I didn't want the story to end!

I loved this story of second chance love. I may be a little biased though, since I am living my own second chance story with the love of my life. So much of what Quinn and Sawyer go through rings true to me. It feels next to impossible to keep their hearts safe from the irresistible pull toward each other. I think the author knows what this looks like and maybe even what it feels like. This is a wonderful book about people who finally realize what is important in life. That realization gives them the strength to face the fear of what might happen if the get it. They might just be happy.

She did an excellent job with this one. I loved how the writing flowed from beginning to end. They needed each other and when they finally let themselves feel and embrace the love they have for each other it turned into something beautiful. Won't regret reading this book. A definite five stars.

Sometimes I need a break from fantasy worlds and just fall into a beautiful love story. Quinn and Sawyer were adorable. Though it started a bit slow, I fell in love with the characters quickly. And to have two complete story arcs that intertwine perfectly was a great surprise. Really excited I picked this up off a casual mention on Bookstagram.

I loved this romance! It was absolutely filled with pining and angst, my two favorite things. The ending was also very satisfying. Even though they weren’t real people I’m so happy they were able to finally get past their fears and follow their true passions with each other hand in hand. The only thing I wouldn’t be able to give my full-hearted praise to is the smut. Which I kind of expected since this isn’t exactly ao3 or anything and real books are normally more tame about stuff like that, but still I was kind of hoping for more. Even though it wasn’t that hot and heavy, the romance was really sweet and I definitely recommend this book.
