Can a stiff-necked by the book Captain find his way and well and truly un-stuff his shirt?

This story starts with the Private Military Company Frontier Security's ship New Jersey in op-sided battle that leads to a change of command after near destruction. Enter Tad Thatcher, XO on a US Space Fleet starship. He is stiff-necked, completely proper by the book, and has had a perfect career working his way up and waiting for his first command, which is still quite a ways off in the future in the official US Space Fleet. Little did he know his first command of a starship was going to be working for a private military company commanding the New Jersey - at the behest of his Admiral none the less. Seems the US Space Fleet has no presence through the wormhole leading to the Dawn Cluster where an old dangerous alien enemy from Tad's Grandfather's time had reared it's head again. So begins the Commander's career in the private military. He is supposed to help bring stability to this region, in advance of another war with the Xanthic aliens. Gifted with a brilliant tactical mind, able to think under pressure to try and find the solution to problems not quite encountered before, Tad has his work cut out for him. Hopefully he finds his way without his 100% by the book demanding leadership handicapping or destroying his crew as well as other ships he has a hand in guiding. This is his journey as we watch his leadership growth from new Commander to whatever he will be called on to do. Saving humanity is the ultimate mission.
This series has kept me awake when I should have been sleeping as I hungrily digest book after book. Through book 6 from this 10 book series, it has never gotten boring or repetitious and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series to see how this all turns out. I have previously read other series (2 Ixan series and the Fleet Ops series as well as others) and this author and his partner authors have never let me down.
