Clever twist

Phillipa Rogers is a bestselling author and her books are narrated by Eve, mum to young Scarlett. When Phillipa disappears leaving her wife Fleur, without a word, the publishing world is rife with speculation about what could have happened. Those guessing include Eve, Fleur, the publishers, the literary agent, and mostly the superfans. To add confusion to the mix a manuscript, the 10th in the series, yet to ne published is found by Fleur in the attic, except something is seriously off. The main character a detective, is contradicting what was previously written about her which makes Eve highly suspicious.
The twist in this story was excellent but I felt the ending was disappointing which lost it a star. 4 stars.

Love this author, but…..

I have enjoyed other books by this author but not this one. I just kept hoping I would start enjoying it or I would finish it. I always hope books will get better so I don’t usually quit reading them. I didn’t care for the characters either. I wouldn’t recommend this book. Just my opinion. I’m sure some people enjoyed it.

First, I gotta say... thank you for not having a bunch of expletives or sex scenes. It wasn't needed for the story, and you didn't cave to cultural pressure to add it anyway. Bravo!

Next... what a great premise for a story. I thought it would just be a take on "Misery" but it definitely wasn't. Very original way this plot ended.

I really liked some characters, and thankfully by the end, they proved worthy of that admiration. And I suspected or hated certain other characters and was glad to see them get their comeuppance.

Surprisingly, there were also several characters I thought were cool or thought were creepy... but I was totally wrong!

That's some master storytelling there, when the characters surprise you with their depth.

That ending was really shocking. I am so glad I took the time to read this novel!
