Of course, the cover was a big clue so I knew it would be odd.
I read all of the “John” books and enjoyed every one.
This book you could almost feel where the author wasn’t quite in his comfort zone, although props for trying.
There were a couple of things I struggled with: the beginning felt more like the middle and I was trying to catch up. In his other books, the humor (which I deeply value) was…off - not seamless. The story itself was disjointed and kind of clunky. It just feels like a story that was not well thought out, and it was sometimes difficult to even relate to the characters or the storyline. I’d still read any John books but if there are any more Sol books, they’re not for me.
