I would have given this book a higher rating had the blurb matched the story.
I went in expecting more angst and push and pull from the MC's. Instead, the story starts 3 years after Renfrey walked out on a ONS with his soulmate Syrra.
Renfrey and his new pack of 5 other demon hunting alphas have a new mission to visit and destroy demons in a settlement called Kurvion.
The previous settlement of loremasters hasn't been heard from in months and no one is expecting survivors. Until they get there and find Syrra and her babies.
Wolves in this story come from an alternate world, there's portal travel, loremasters and magic. All of which was great, but not what I was expecting.
The angst was near zero because unless I can empathize with Syrra's pain and heartache all that happened was that I was told Syrra was upset. Also, the MC's rarely interacted and apart from demon fighting not much character development happens.
The blurb specifically mentions that Renfrey leaves Syrra after making Syrra believe her curves were beautiful and that he rejected her. Firstly no mention is made of Syrra's curves in the story, or anything really apart from her blue eyes and blonde curls. The most thats mentioned of their one night stand was that they met in a bar, took it to the bedroom, talked and then Renfrey left Syrra sleeping while he snuck out and ran away without a word to her.
I did like the authors writing style, but this was a disappointment.
