I love the Jan Karon books and own all of them in audiobook format. John M has been the perfect narrator and his comforting voice gently reads me to sleep. The other two narrators for the Home to Holly Springs and the trip to Ireland book were also perfect in their settings.
Some of Jan's passages in various books are so moving and heartfelt, they inspire like a prayer.
My only criticism in this last book, and part of it may be my aging mental processes, is too many pronouns. When "he" would start a new sentence I'd think, "he who", father Tim, Dooley, Avis, etc. Just the addition of the name of the speaker would have made the transition smoother.
Also, the book seems to have ended kind of abruptly, on CD #10, i wonder if something was left out ?
Please Jan, reward your readers who hunger to be a part of Mitford again and again with further books. All of your wonderful characters are a joy to be with. Any further developments of any of these people would probably be treasured by your huge fan base.
Thank you for bringing us Henry and his precious mother, Peggy. Those moments spent in Holly Spring were sacred.
In my pre-bedtime comfort listening, I turn again and again to one of my old Mitford favorites. Some of the descriptions have been so memorable that I hunger for them...to be where they are.
