Sweet Retaliation (Mob Tracker Series Book 1) By: Mimi Barbour 5 out of 5 stars
The story Sweet Retaliation (Mob Tracker Series Book 1) by Mimi Barbour is a book that has plenty of thrills and mystery. It also has romance. I loved reading this story. It had me hooked from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished. Just how far would you go to avenge the death of someone that you love? That is the question that the main character in this story faces after her brother is killed in front of her. She finds her strength and begins a plan. What she didn’t expect is to fall for Trace McGuire. This character shows herself to be a fighter and when others run from a situation she stays to assist those that need her help. She is in constant danger in her search for the truth. Trace is a detective that when he starts a case he obsesses over it until it is solved. While working to solve his current case he finds himself wanting to protect and falling for the sister of the murder victim. He doesn’t need any other complications in his life. How does he tell that to his heart? While these two agree to work together to solve the murder of her brother there are times when they withhold information from each other or take actions that have them in danger. This story had me on the edge of my seat and always rooting for the bad guys to be caught and punished. I also loved reading about the romance that builds between the two main characters. There are quite a few other characters that are introduced in this book and a lot of them are there to help either with the investigation or are friends and family of the main characters. There are others that I could classify as the “bad guys” who are motivated by greed and how things will benefit them. This is the second book I have read by the author and have found her to be a wonderful storyteller who creates amazing characters. This is the first book in a series and the ending does leave me with questions. I look forward to reading the next book to see if these questions are answered. This story does have scenes of violence and adult situations. It would be recommended for mature readers.
