"The cookbook to unleash your own inner chef prowess." - by Jeff W (Sherman Oaks, California)
This is the first cook book in years that I feel will never make it to my bookshelf. You all know what can happen to cookbooks in bookshelves...they often remain there, only to be forgotten. Well not this time. It arrived yesterday, and I've already made Jenn's Smoked Salmon Spread to accompany bone dry dry martini's last night. A stunner spread, albeit a breeze to make. Jenn has the keen eye of understanding ingredients and flavors that invite you in, like I have not experienced in ages. I know my way around the kitchen since single digit age, including being a private cooking teacher. I never want to "know it all", and in 2018 I have found my muse. No Churn Cheesecake Ice cream with graham crumble? A vastly upgraded Caprese? Warm Carmelized Onion and Gruyere Dip? Who thinks this stuff up??? ... full review

"You will never need another cookbook." - by Jo Ann Graham (Dallas, TX)
I am an avid and fairly accomplished home cook. I learned about this book in a cooking class when the teacher brought it to show some of the illustrations. It looked good so I sent for my own copy. Wow! Am I glad I did. This very heavy (1200+ pages) book might require assistance to carry around but you will never need another cookbook to answer all your questions.

The Professional Chef is the go to reference for all things culinary from filleting fish to making bread, pastries and desserts and everything in between. Cooking theory is explained in clear and understandable terms so that you know why certain substitutions work better than others and why certain ratios need to be maintained for ultimate results. Any cooking technique I have ever attempted, heard of and many I have never heard of are included with detailed ... full review

"Our Favorite Cookbook" - by Valerie Pierce
My seven-year-old and I absolutely adore this cookbook! I really appreciate how the book calls out the difficulty level so that we immediately understand how much help she’ll need.

The little one has become a lot more invested in making meals, and this book is encouraging her to try foods she’s always been wary of. It’s expanding her horizons, helping her learn about food, and overall increasing her confidence and independence. We love it!

Oh, one last thing - make sure you try out the chocolate chip cookie recipe! Best one we’ve ever tried!

"Make America's kitchens indigenous again!" - by AngieBee (Brooklyn NY)
Environmental activist Winona LaDuke once said “The recovery of people is tied to recovery of food, since food itself is medicine, not only for the body but also for the soul and the spiritual connection to history, ancestors, and the land”. This book strongly represents these principles with recipes, stories, and beautiful photos of food native to North America. Each section is a lesson in indigenous food traditions, offering an understanding that the closer you connect with clean, local ingredients the closer you connect spiritually, mentally, and physically to the land and animals that provide you nourishment. It helps you realize, if you haven't already, that we suffer from a broken and destructive food system in the US. The recipes are fairly simple, fun, nutritionally dense, and really delicious. I grow food and harvest honey from my beehives so I have an understanding of developing a close relationship with what ... full review

"So far delicious" - by Michael B from Rhode Island
Great purchase for my wife for Christmas! It's working out great as she has made three recipes in the first week! She did say the recipes are pretty complex, not 5 minute jobs like you see on the TV show. There are pictures of the contestants throughout the book but none of Ramsay, I can see they had license to use Hell's Kitchen but maybe not Ramsey's image?

"The Bible of Cajun/Creole Cooking" - by Colin Povey (Clearwater, FL, USA)
I am a chef, and this book is THE Bible of Creole/Cajun, or as it's now called Southern Louisiana cooking. Wonderful book, now in about it's 80th printing! I use it all the time.

I truly consider this book one of the best cookbooks ever from the USA. It ranks up there with "The Joy of Cooking" and "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" as classics, or standards that all serious cooks need to have in their library.

Many people think that New Orleans has the best food in America, and Paul is without a doubt one of the best New Orleans cooks. If you want to explore one of the only true American cuisines, this book is a must.

As a hint for those worried about the 'heat' levels in some of these foods, do what professional chef's do: Simply start with 1/4 the amount of 'hot' ingredients when you make a ... full review

"Let's Compare: "Sneaky" Vs. "Deceptive"" - by Mia (OH USA)
The Sneaky Chef VS. Deceptively Delicious.

First of all let me start by saying:
!) I don't have young kids any more BUT
2) I HATE veggies but I know I need to eat more of them, so any system that gets them into me and the grownups in my life: BRAVO!

Yes, I'd recommend BOTH books and here's why. They each have their strong and weak suits.

Pluses:
DECEPTIVELY DELICIOUS has
A) pictures, which is helpful and fun
B) tips and comments by her taste-testers
C) used one type of puree for each recipe
D) is spiral bound so it will lay flat. The whole layout is really nice, just as a cookbook to read!
E) doesn't beat you over the head with the whole nutrition thing

THE SNEAKY CHEF has
A) combination purees, which add a lot of variety and ease into the cooking part
B0 really cute names for the dishes. Makes it easy to remember!
C) isn't afraid ... full review

"Great book!" - by Nikki~MI
I really enjoyed getting this cookbook. I'm a huge fan of the show and I was excited to see what was in it. I was expecting more practical and easy to do recipes considering all the contestants are "home" cooks. But that a side I did enjoy more than a few of the recipes so far! It has pushed me in the direction of being a more technical cook!

"The bread was by far the best I've ever tasted" - by Brad Beaver
First I must say after 15 years as a professional chef and having read hundreds of books, THIS is one that is so fascinating I had to write my first review. I had the experience of eating this man's food last summer at his restaurant in Modena. The bread was by far the best I've ever tasted, far better than even chef Joel Robuchon's which speaks volumes. Moving into dinner, I was not prepared for the meal to come. Some courses were revolutionary, life changing really. Others were confusing and left me questioning the chef's motives. If I had only read this book first I am certain it would have been a different experience. That's what this book does. It goes into detail, the conceptualizing and philosophy being every dish. I've never read a book that is all about the ideology first with the recipes to follow. It's an exceptionally ... full review

I love learning new things and this beautiful book took me on an adventure into a world I knew nothing about! "A masterpiece!" - by MidwestLady (Indiana)
This is a stunning masterpiece. Even if you don't cook you'll love it for the visual style, writing and sheer magnificence. It is an exquisite gem. The food is art. The food recipes are amazing, although a novice would find them challenging. You could get some great ideas from the book, even if you don't follow the recipe exactly. The photographs are art. It may be the greatest art cookbook ever published.

"EXCELLENT!!!" - by Amazon Customer
Beautifully made. TONS of information and techniques to learn. Beautiful images all throughout the entire cookbook. I am a huge fan of Michael Symon did not disappoint! It is impressive and would be a great gift for anyone who loves to bbq, grill, or smoke! Do not believe the other reviews about being a small book. Mine has 240 pages. I would DEFINITELY recommend this book to others!
"Fabulous recipes, if you can read them!" - by Naomi Manygoats (Hill Country, TX USA)
My husband always tells me that if I only had ONE cookbook, I would never have to look through piles of them trying to remember where I had seen a particular recipe. And I was positively thrilled when I looked at the titles of the recipes in this book. I quickly decided that if I ever had to have just one book, this might very well be it. Every page has recipes that I can hardly wait to try. Some are old favorites of mine, like spanokopita, and many others I have never tried to make but sound wonderful. I am very happy to see favorite dishes from my days in San Antonio in particular. The photos are beautiful, and very inspirational.

So tonight I could not wait to make Black Bean Empanadas and some Guacamole and Pico de Gallo to go along with it. I have strong reading glasses, and ... full review
