"A Proven Winner" - by Mauimama
This was my nine year old grandson's first. Pinewood Derby, and his mentor was me, a 69 year old grandmother who had never done this before. I'm sure he, and I too, felt that we had no chance, so I did my homework, helped him learn the the ins and outs of building a car and making it fast. He became obsessed with spinning his wheels and reducing friction wherever possible, and this product sure helped.
The outcome? He came in second out of his whole scout pack of experienced racers, not just his den. He did a great job, and learned that friction can be your friend if you learn how to overcome it.

"good car, good price, I took third...." - by John
I won third with little effort, wheels were a little different, but still close. I saw wheels come off with the guys who had the nail axles, So I really like the full axle, but it comes with both, just incase you have to use the nails in your pack. check the rules on wheels and axles before you buy, Good luck!

"Accurate" - by s losee (small town, texas)
This little gadget made putting the axles in much easier and less stressful for my young grandson to nail in the wheels for his derby car. Nice idea.

"Very Nice but" - by Don C (Exeter, NH USA)
They are as advertised a direct replacement for the "typical" nails. The finish is hard and smooth BUT I would like to see another .001 buildup to increase the OD of the nail by .002 for less wobble potential. The undercut does reduce friction by 25% - 30% but it does not seem to hold the lubricant in place longer. A series of more undercuts narrower would make the path for the lubricant to escape a little harder and potentially last longer.
In a 45' race where .006 seconds would equal approximately 1 inch the most minor of improvements can be the difference.

"Get it... you'll be glad!" - by Matthew K. (Virginia)
So glad I bought this! It made drilling the perfect holes EASY and aligned them right the first time! I don't think I could've drilled the holes perfectly without this tool! It's definitely worth it to buy early on in a scout's career so it can be used over and over. My son won his den and got second in the pack!

"expensive, but worth it." - by SteveFromBoston (Boston, MA)
Way overpriced, but son won 1st place out of 33 entrants, so I would do it again.
I bought these, the pinewood pro axles, graphite, and tungsten weights. not sure what role these had in the overall success, but I'm confident they helped.

"This was a great product for the Pinewood Derby car" - by Eddie
This was a great product for the Pinewood Derby car. Directions call for making a hole in the bottom of the car to fit the weight but I just screwed it right in with no track clearance issues at all. Since it has screws you can use it over and over again. This is a terrific way to add 2 ounces to your Derby car quickly and easily. I would recommend this product.

"Great design!" - by 2cms
My son picked out this car and we ordered it not long before his race. The car came timely and was ready to paint and put axles on for the race. I inquired as to the rules of his Pack race and there was to be no precut cars. Not a problem. I had a regular kit and weights so I traced this design onto the block. I copied exactly where this cars drilled holes for weights were and cut the new block with a band saw to match this car. The wheel spacing tool in this package and tips were very helpful. Bottom line. My son won his age and took 3rd in the Pack of 38 cars with some really fast times. I order many items from Amazon and don't write reviews simply due to time constraints but I ... full review

"Blast Off!" - by 1 Man Army
Decided to do a twist on the Pine Wood derby theme for my sons birthday party this year. We had built pinewood derby cars in woodshop when I was in middle school from scratch. My woodshop teacher however added a twist. He had us drill a hole into the rear of the car. We then inserted ROCKET ENGINES in the hole and raced them in the school parking lot. Big fun. Did a quick reinactment and circumvented most of the build process with these. The shape is a simple wedge created by cutting a block of wood that measures 7" long x 2"high x 1"high diagonally along its length. Cheap light weight wood was utilized. You could easily do this yourself with a jigsaw or even better, a bandsaw. I used some scrap 2x4 wood to create a more robust test ... full review
