"Pretty good books, look for a discount." - by Danielle V. (TX)
Good books, but they were thinner than I expected and they went half off right after I bought them... should have left them in my wishlist and looked for discounts... oh well. Good books that my children enjoy. Overpriced for the size in my opinion, unless you find them discounted or used.
"Our 3 Year Old Loves These Books" - by Nell
We started trying to get our 3 year old to sit longer before bedtime to read books (to help calm him down) and grabbed the Ice Wizard book first. Our son loved it so much that we have since purchased a number more.

Our son will soon be 4 and we are pleased that this will be among his birthday presents. These books are fun for kids, and introduce them to concepts that they might not know of. (Especially since we don't watch a lot of tv).

There are few illustrations however the story keeps kids interested. We can't wait until our son can read these on his own.
"Cute" - by Holt
My 5 year old picked out the 5th book at a used book store for me to read to her. I knew it was a series, but I didn't realize the books are not stand alone. Argh! Imagine my surprise when we get to the end of the book only to find out we needed more to complete the story! Lesson learned. I will only be buying MTH books in sets from now on.

I've read people complaining about the literary content. Come on! It's meant to be the first step in chapter books. You're not going to find spectacular literary merit.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I wish they would go in and edit their educational facts when they reprint. It's a fictional, magic based book that supposedly has tid bits of fact thrown in. Problem is some of their facts are outdated so the historical ... full review
"I haven't run into a child yet who didn't like these books" - by M.R. (South Florida)
My daughter absolutely loves the Magic Tree House series. The books are written for elementary students with definitive chapters that serve as stopping and starting points for them, but each book carries over from one to the next like a television series. Yes, you could skip around, but the books are so much more fluid if you read them in groupings so all of the mysteries can be solved with the clues. There aren't enough wonderful things to be said about these books.
"Exciting, Educational, and Easy to read aloud to kids" - by BabyWrangler (FL, USA)
I learned about this series when my 5 year old son picked up a set at Costco and another mom walked over to recommend them. I bought the set at Costco and we enjoyed it so much I quickly ordered this set from Amazon. The books are exciting, with interesting illustrations, and have been a great introduction to chapter books for our family. My kids get so into the story, I've been able to start and finish each book in one sitting (my kids aren't reading chapter books themselves yet). It takes about 30 minutes for me to read through the story out loud, stopping to peruse the pictures. These stories stick with the kids. For example, we reenacted the dinosaur scenes in our yard, with each of us playing a different part. I also took the opportunity to point out a magnolia tree in our neighborhood to them, after ... full review
"Good Beginner Chapter Books" - by Elaine J. (North Carolina)
I started purchasing these books when my son was 4, and he's really enjoying them. The stories are entertaining and easy to follow. However, like many others have said the writing is definitely lacking. Unfortunately my son can read, so I can't easily cover up the grammatical errors and continuous use of the same words or phrases. Maybe it's just me but it drives me crazy that she keeps writing, "he started up the ladder", "she started down the ladder", "they started up the hill", "they started out the door". Please, can you switch it up now and then? Maybe you could try, "he climbed up the ladder", "she hurried up the ladder", "they walked up the hill". Another example is "he whispered" or "she whispered". It seems than no matter where they are or what they're doing it requires them to whisper. Why? ... full review

Have been reading this series with my granddaughter for years and now she is reading the higher number ones on her own. This is a great series for kids that teaches so many facts about the world, geography, and history.

"Great books for riding in the car" - by bobalego
We bought these so that our daughter could listen to books in the car rather than watching movies on long trips. These stories are fun for the whole family. The only thing my husband and I don't like is actually the voice of the author. I feel really bad saying it but she just tries a little too hard. Other than that these are great books and you get a whole 8 stories! I would say that the age range for these is probably 3 to 9 years.
"GREAT COMBINATION OF STORIES AND FACTS FOR YOUR KIDS" - by Medical Billing Expert (Los Angeles, CA USA)
Bought the first set of 28 books and read most of them to my 5 year old granddaughter. She asked her Dad to ask Granddaddy if there were more. I ordered these and she and her Dad have almost finished those too. She recently asked me via FaceTime to get more...but I don't think there are anymore.
"Great Listening" - by Mom of 3
My 6 year old grandson loves the Magic Tree House stories and has learned so many bits of history, geography, science, and culture from listening to these CDs. The narration by the author is just great, very clear and dramatic. I would have given 5 stars, but the publisher should have put just 1 story on each CD. Instead, the stories follow each other wherever the last one left off, so it's hard to find the beginning track if you are looking for a special story. Otherwise, these are wonderful stories and recordings. They are especially good for developing children's listening skills.
"Great book to start working on book reports with" - by JLM
My nine year old really enjoys these books! He can read them quickly and doesn't feel overwhelmed because it's not too thick. Great book to start working on book reports with.
