"But after the cake was done baking it tasted just like normal and held together very well" - by Jennifer P.
I made a cake with it and was a bit nervous at first because the consistency is a little strange and it didn't mix in well with the cake mix. Maybe I did something wrong? But after the cake was done baking it tasted just like normal and held together very well. Much better than when I used applesauce as an egg replacer. All in all I'm very happy with this and will buy again.

"AWESOME once you figure it out." - by Cecille Parrenas
This is a great product, but may take some finessing to get it cooked to your liking. Read the tips throughout the reviews, they're very helpful! I prepped my Chicken-Not strips by first boiling them in vegetable stock for 8 minutes. I then prepared them as I would real chicken. I sauteed them in a teriyaki sauce and reduced it down. The texture was PERFECT after this. If you eat the Chicken-Not strips directly after reconstituting them, they're pretty gross. I tried a soft piece and it made me gag a little. You just make sure they're soft. Once the strips are soft, you can cook them like normal chicken. Then they're delicious! The texture transforms and it's amazing. I'm fairly new to veganism and this product is a great way to get protein. I haven't had meat cravings, but it was nice to be able to cook things that ... full review

"Love it!" - by Nanyamka Morgan (Garland, Texas United States)
This product blows my mind. It functions just like regular meat in all of my recipes. Suggestion: If you are trying to lose weight, actually measure how much you put into the recipes so that it doesn't make your carb intake too high.

"Best of its kind" - by Amazon Customer
A bit softer than a regular hotdog and the first bite will tell you its not a meat hotdog. However, its very good in itself and my favorite meat substitute hot dog.

"No beef with this" - by Scott
Realistic appearance and texture. A non-veg may not be fooled, but a veg would likely be satisfied. The flavor is very mild, as it's meant to absorb flavor from whatever it's cooked with.

"These are super yummy dipped in some italian bread crumbs and pan ..." - by Lainey Jane (Fort Collins, CO, US)
These are super yummy dipped in some italian bread crumbs and pan fried with a tiny bit of olive oil. I had them with miso gravy and mashed potatoes, made a really good quick dinner with a good amount of protein and not a lot of fat.

"Just like Chicken/Beef" - by Dottie P. Williams (TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA, US)
I tried the beef-like product first, since chicken-like products abound. My husband, a devout meat eater, loved the way I fixed it with gravy. He went back for more!

"I was skeptical, but..." - by Folina Dubernol (location, location, location)
Update 06/24/14: This product has increased in price to a total of $12.35 w/S&H. But again, it makes the equivalent of about 4 lbs of ground beef. So that's only $3.08/pound, and last I looked, 80/20 at the grocery was going for about $4.35/lb. This is healthier, and shelf-stable. So still a good buy at current price point.

I needed to do something about my cholesterol, and so began cooking a lot of meatless dishes. I was searching for low fat recipes online, and happened upon one that mentioned "Beef Not" and "Turkey Not". I was intrigued, and searched it here at Amazon; LO! And behold! They have it!

With shipping, this package costs $11.14, but makes the equivalent of about 4 pounds of ground beef. At this time, the average cost for fresh ground beef is $3.51/pound. Four pounds would cost $14.04. Even adding in the beef broth (that I use) ... full review

"Veratile" - by Discerning_buyer
Bought this product as was looking for alternative vegetarian protein sources and saw it on Amazon. It’s really good and takes on the flavor of the dish you are preparing. I soaked mine in hot water for 5 mins then sautéed it with rice and Veges. Am

"really good meat substitute" - by AI1123
Really, really good meat substitute. Great for in a hurry. Just add an egg or two or egg substitute, water and heat in skillet and it's done. It is made only with pecans, chickpeas and beans, oats and spices - seriously - it really is amazing, as to how they combined these to make a "meaty" dish.

I really like the convenience of always being able to have it in the pantry, if I want a change of pace from Gardein, and they have the flavoring just right - not overpowering, and you can obviously add your own variation.
