"Excellent Project Management resource for heavy engineering and construction projects" - by John J. Connelly
There are multitudes of books on project management but they are very general and not specific to engineering or heavy construction projects. This book is directed at complex engineering projects. It would definitely a good introduction to project management for engineering students and I recommend it for project management professionals early in their careers. The material is also suitable for sharing portions with non-project managers such as commercial and operations to better understand the challenges and role of project managers better. The book covers the full range of project management for engineering projects from initiation, early estimating, budgeting, work breakdown, scheduling, construction, risk management, and close out. It also covers soft project management skills related to project teams and personal management.

"Good Project Management Reference" - by todd.smith15@gte.net (St. Louis, MO)
This book is a good general reference for engineering and process equipment project management. In fact, you could probably re-title it as "... Project Manager's Desk Reference". Much of the book refers to methods and procedures used at ICF Kaiser. It covers in detail design engineering controls / monitoring, material and equipment procurement, contract procedures, cost control and estimating. A section is also devoted to the matters associated with international projects. It is a very good reference for those involved in management of large projects (engineering, construction, design-build).

"Well Rounded Project Management Reference for Global Environment" - by Dennis Gagne
This book pulls together critical elements of Engineering Project Management that go well beyond just tools and techniques generally associated with project management. There is considerable effort made to draw distinctions between industries that can afford longer development cycles with more captive manufacturing versus many of todays high tech industries where time to market is critical and a companies supply chain many be highly integrated into the development cycle. The author does a great job discussing those differences and how those differences influence the product development cycle with the use of real world case studies. I particularly appreciated the author dedicating chapters to topics around organizational behavior topics, communication, and leadership. These topics represent a significant challenge to a project manager trying to organize across a global organization where Engineering and manufacturing resources are spread out globally. I am a manager in global high tech organization ... full review

"Fantastic Book!!!!" - by CMCL
I received this book two days ago and it has been an amazing hit at my home. My three children (ages 6-8 years) LOVE it!!! The directions are clear and straight forward, the images are beautiful and the variety of activities is wonderful. As a parent, I love that the necessary supplies are largely things that are found around my home. In addition, the activities are rated by difficulty levels and have time suggestions. It is a wonderful tool for children/parents who love STEM/STEAM. I am so happy to have purchased this book and highly recommend it!!!

"Filled with new activities I'd never seen before!" - by Kaylee P. (ARLINGTON, VA, US)
As someone who teaches STEAM afterschool classes and summer camps, I can honestly say this book is filled with unexpected and absolutely unique experiments and activities that I hadn't ever seen before. The instructions are easy to understand, there's tons of context and talking points built in, and the design of the book is just stunning. This is ideal if you've got curious kids... or if you're an adult who wants to get back in touch with your exploratory side.
"Awesome book / great price" - by Marc-
I purchased this book to increase my knowledge of project management for the ANCC Informatics Nurse certification exam. In a nutshell, this book references PMBOK as it relates and is applied to IT projects. I its good reading. I purchased this book because it was way better priced than the "real" one. The text and illustrations are in black in white (no color images). The condition of the book was excellent for being a used book. I have zero regrets of puchasing this book and would definitely recommend it especially to those desiring to save money.

"Comments on "Project Management for Healthcare IT"" - by Mark Gascoigne
This excellent book has some healthcare specifics but in fact it is applicable to any type of Information Technology project. The book's approach to project management balances methodology with experience and common sense. It is packed with information and includes numerous footnotes for a reader that wants even more detail about a topic. There is a complete Index which is helpful for quickly finding the answer to a specific question. All this is in a book that is easy to carry in a briefcase.

The book is not just for project managers. The role of, and expectations for, the user/customer/stakeholder are thoroughly explained.

"Another DK Beauty!" - by Angela A. Ackley
I received this beautiful book a few days ago and couldn't wait to tear into it the minute I saw it! Each colorful page contains exciting photos of fun, kid friendly projects, step-by-step directions, and templates with just the right blend of directions and imagination. Most projects require little planning and few materials: cardboard, paint, tape, scissors, glue... things that are laying around a typical household. However, some projects are a bit more ambitious and require specialized types of cardboard or just LOTS of it!

As a teacher I can see myself placing this book on a table in a corner of my room with all of the necessary supplies in a box under the table, and inviting students to visit the corner during their spare time. Out of the Box is sure to become a great work motivator. Students will want to quickly attend to their assignments so they will ... full review

"It's about time they wrote this!" - by L. A. Kane (Seattle, WA USA)
I work for an aerospace company where I have worked with way too many PMPs who are little more than tool wonks. They get schedules, resources, and reports reasonably well, but really don't understand how impact to one aspect of the process or business can affect others, leading to over-schedule, over-budget programs that deliver underwhelming results. And, I know systems engineers who couldn't build a program plan if if their lives depended on it and further don't realize that they should play a critical role in the planning process. Consider a large software roll-out like an ERP or PLM system; if business transformation doesn't lead tech insertion all you do is build really expensive shelfware because no one is willing to use it. You see, the best programs and projects I've been involved with require both process/planning discipline and a systems view.

That's where this awesome book comes in. It takes ... full review

"Good Collection" - by wizardbluebolt
This was a very entertaining collection, with the theme being hard SF set within our solar system. Some compelling takes on life in the outer planetary moons, and several of the stories were very touching. Ironically, I liked Bruce Sterling's story (the last in the collection) the least - which surprised me. Still recommended!
